Goals

  • Continue Funding Project Account for Drainage Improvements throughout the Town of Salina – This special project account would be a budgeted line item meant to improve roadside and other drainage issues throughout the town.
  • Work with Federal, State, and County Partners to Continue Funding Sidewalk and Pedestrian Walkways, Bikeways and Trails throughout Salina – This includes reworking Teall Avenue in order to build a sidewalk allowing easier and safer pedestrian access, supporting the completion of the Loop the Lake Trail on the Eastern Shore of Onondaga Lake, encouraging greater access from Old Liverpool Road down to Onondaga Park, the Village of Liverpool, and the Regional Market, working with county partners to expand the Bear Trap Creek Trail. With the Town of Salina’s unique proximity to the City of Syracuse and the preeminent Onondaga Lake Park there should be a focus for connectivity to the expanding network of trailways and pedestrian accessibility points throughout Onondaga County.
  • Expand on Training for Town Employees to Better Service Constituents – Working with our town employees to provide first class customer service to our constituents will always be a priority.
  • Continue Improvements to Salina Parks – With 4 large parks located in the 4 different Wards of Salina, and various smaller parks, our Town provides great park services to our neighbors. Continued improvements to our parks will be fundamental to the quality of life Salina residents are afforded in our town.
  • Create a Low Interest Loan Fund for Neighborhood Revitalization – Following Onondaga County’s lead, Nick wants to provide funding for homeowners to apply for loan interest loans in order to improve their homes.
  • Investments in Local Job Creation and Economic Development – Understanding that our town is fully developed, we must pivot to the next century and begin redeveloping abandoned sites and our commercial corridors. Nick already supported the creation of a Overlay District allowing greater flexibility to this end but Nick will also push to create new commercial corridor studies and attract news businesses and developers to our sites in order to get properties back on the tax roll, provide new jobs in the town of Salina, and provide a more vibrant economic engine in Salina.
